Projects

Rivalry. Interdependence. Partnership: Dynamics and Trends in the Arabian Peninsula and Beyond

Project Duration

April 2026 – December 2026

Against the backdrop of the recent Gulf war, the project examines dynamics of cooperation and divergence within the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and beyond, analysing where shared interests persist and where political, security-related, and geo-economic differences continue to emerge. It focuses on questions of regional stability, economic transformation, and international partnerships, as well as their implications for neighbouring regions. Through expert workshops, scenario analyses, and policy papers, the project develops practical recommendations for German and European decision-makers to strengthen areas of cooperation. The project is funded by the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung.
