Psychosocial Support Through the Arts (PSSArts) for Marginalized Groups in Yemen
Project Duration
February 2025 –
November 2026
Implemented jointly with Yemen’s foremost organization providing mental health and psychosocial support across the country, the Family Counseling & Development Foundation (FCDF), this project seeks to contribute to sustainable MHPSS services for IDPs, host communities and marginalized groups in Aden and Lahj through education and the arts.
It aims to achieve this objective through the following outputs:
Building the capacities of teachers, social workers, mental health specialists and artists to a) integrate artistic projects into school education to deliver low-threshold PSS services to children; and b) identify children with possible mental health challenges for referral to specialized clinics.
Implementing arts-based MHPSS interventions in schools with high numbers of IDPs (among the host communities) with a specific focus on vulnerable children (including children with disabilities, muhammasheen, etc.).
Developing learning materials on arts-based MHPSS interventions in Yemen and organizing awareness-raising activities.
This project is funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and supported by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).
