German-Yemeni Autumn School in Amman, Jordan, 29 September – 3 October 2025

Call for Applications 

The Woman Research & Training Center (WRTC) at Aden University, Yemen, and CARPO are co-implementing a project on science communication for social cohesion and inclusion in Yemen with funding from the German Academic Exchange Service. The objectives of this project are: a) to initiate and/or intensify the networks and cooperation between higher education institutions and non-university partners, including German and Yemeni researchers and students, civil society stakeholders and artists in the fields of science communication, social cohesion and inclusion in Yemen; and c) to develop strategies for knowledge transfer between higher education institutions and non-university partners. As part of this project, WRTC and CARPO are organizing a joint 5-day autumn school in September in Amman, Jordan, bringing together German and Yemeni researchers and students with an interest in these topics. The aim is to jointly further our knowledge of communication for development, messaging through the arts, as well as the challenges to social cohesion and inclusion in Yemen. We will also look at fields of practice while exchanging knowledge, experiences and ideas across (academic) cultural divides. Practitioners involved in these topics in Yemen will be invited to talk about their work to the students. 

A travel allowance of 850,- EUR and accommodation in Amman will be covered by the project. 

Who can apply? German master students studying in Germany.  

Application deadline: 8 June 2025 

Selection criteria: We are looking for students with good knowledge of English, who either a) have a current employment at or demonstrated experience (activism, internships) with civil society organizations in the field of social cohesion or inclusion; or b) demonstrated interest in the topic of social cohesion, science communication and/or Yemen through courses taken and internships done. 

What to submit for application: 1) a CV (in English) with a particular focus on the above criteria; 2) A motivation letter (in English), elaborating on your interest in the autumn school.
