Asnake A. Chanie is an Ethiopian political scientist specializing in African political economy, democratic transitions, geopolitics, and public governance in the Global South, with particular expertise on the Horn of Africa. He completed his PhD in Political Science at the University of Hradec Králové (Czech Republic). He also holds an MA in European Studies on Society, Science and Technology from Maastricht University (the Netherlands) and a BA in Journalism and Communication from Bahir Dar University (Ethiopia). Between 2008 and 2012, he served as a Graduate Assistant at Dilla University (Ethiopia), and he was a visiting doctoral researcher at the University of Ljubljana (Slovenia) between 2021 and 2022. He has published scholarly articles in international peer-reviewed journals and regularly contributes reviews to leading academic outlets. He also serves as a reviewer for SAGE journals and has expertise in both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies. He has presented his research at international conferences in the United Kingdom, the Czech Republic, and Canada.
