This artwork by Abeer Aref results out of the second year of the project Science Communication for Social Cohesion and Inclusion in Yemen (2024), in which we focused on the top of communicating on social inclusion in Yemen through art. It sheds light on the issue of child labor in Yemen in this work. Abeer’s main goal is to highlight the lost potential of children working on the streets through her photographs, which she took with the permission of the boys portrayed. To achieve this, she chose to present her photos in the form of a so-called zine (short for "magazine"), which at first glance resembles a school notebook commonly used throughout Yemen. The booklet ends with the question: "What could have been our future?"
