Ewa K. Strzelecka ist Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow am Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology der Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Sie hat in Sozialwissenschaften an der Universität von Granada promoviert und war dort Assistant Professor im Department of Political Science and Public Administration. Darüber hinaus hatte sie Positionen und Fellowships an Universitäten und internationalen Organisationen in Deutschland, Portugal, Polen, Großbritannien, USA, Jemen, Ägypten, Saudi-Arabien, Westsahara, Marokko, Mozambique, Bolivien and Indien. In ihrer Forschung fokussiert sie auf Feminismus, Menschenrechte, Revolutionen, transnationale Politik und die Komplexitäten von gesellschaftlichem und politischen Wandel im Nahen und Mittleren Osten und in Nordafrika, mit einem Schwerpunkt auf dem Jemen. Sie ist Inhaberin zahlreicher Auszeichnungen, inclusive fünf angesehener Preise für ihre Forschung zu Frauenrechtsbewegungen, Gender, Kultur und Entwicklung im Jemen. Sie ist die Autorin von Mujeres en la Primavera Árabe: construcción de una cultura política de resistencia feminista en Yemen (Women in the Arab Spring. The Construction of a Political Culture of Feminist Resistance in Yemen, CSIC, 2017).
